Surviving a horror movie shoot is one thing, but surviving a Kentucky blizzard while filming one? That’s a whole different level of intense. Director Alex Kahuam just officially wrapped production on his upcoming slasher, House of Holloway, and it sounds like the behind-the-scenes drama was almost as intense as the movie itself. Despite being slammed by one of the biggest snowstorms in recent history, the cast and crew pushed through to finish the winter shoot.
A Deadly Family Competition
Forget your standard “masked man in the woods.” This story is about a family of serial killers who have turned murder into a competitive sport. The family invites six unsuspecting guests to their secluded home. Each family member competes to claim the next victim while playing twisted psychological games. And as the night goes on, the dark secrets of the Holloway family legacy start to leak out.
A Dream Team for Horror Fans
The cast list is a perfect mix of scream queens and genre legends. It features Laura Marano (The Perfect Date), Doug Jones (The Shape of Water), the absolute king of creature work and unsettling performances. Bonnie Aarons (The Nun) also stars, along with Orlando Piñeda (Griselda), adding significant talent to the ensemble.
Why It Was Such a Grind
Alex Kahuam (who co-wrote the script with Anthony Pallino) told Variety that the production was “tough” to say the least. The crew had to battle extreme weather conditions that would have made most people pack up and go home, but they stayed to bring the Holloway house to . The film is now in post-production, produced by Kahuam Films and 22 Black Prods. We’ll keep you posted.
