Clear your schedules and lock your doors—the “Mother” of all slashers is back. Neve Campbell is officially returning as Sidney Prescott in Scream 7, and if the brand-new final trailer is any indication, Ghostface is done playing games.

This isn’t just another sequel; it’s a massive full-circle moment for the franchise. Kevin Williamson, the mastermind who wrote the original 1996 classic, has stepped into the director’s chair for the first time in the series. The result? A pulse-pounding return to the roots of suburban terror.

A Family Legacy of Terror

Sidney has spent decades outrunning the shadow of the mask, building a quiet life for her family. But in Scream 7, the nightmare hits home. Sidney’s daughter, Tatum (played by breakout star Isabel May), has become the primary focus of a new, hyper-brutal Ghostface. To save her daughter, Sidney has to stop running and finally end the cycle of bloodshed that started thirty years ago. Moving away from the urban chaos of New York City, this installment brings the horror back to a personal, intimate setting where nowhere—not even your own living room—is safe.

A Massive “Legacy” Ensemble

This cast is a dream come true for horror junkies, bridging the gap between the original Woodsboro survivors and the new generation. The Icons returning include the ultimate final girls, Neve Campbell (Sidney) & Courteney Cox (Gale Weathers). Some of the franchise survivors are back, including Jasmin Savoy Brown (Mindy) & Mason Gooding (Chad). Let’s not forget about the new blood, Isabel May, McKenna Grace, Asa Germann, and Michelle Randolph. We’re also getting a few wild cards, Joel McHale (as Sidney’s husband, Mark), Anna Camp, and Mark Consuelo.

However, that’s not all. There is a fan theory swirling around that suggests that other legacy characters like Matthew Lillard (Stu Macher) are back and have “final chapter” energy off the charts.

Coming Soon

The wait is almost over. Scream 7 is being positioned as a major cinematic event and will be the first film in the franchise to play in IMAX. Head to theaters on February 27, 2026. Here’s another reason to get excited: some theaters are hosting an “Opening Night Fan Event” early screening on Thursday, February 26. Check theaters near you.
