There’s an upcoming film, Teenage Sex and Death in Camp Miasma, which is a must-see! Between Jane Schoenbrun’s distinct visual language and the powerhouse pairing of Emmy winners Hannah Einbinder (Hacks) and Gillian Anderson (The X-Files), the film is one of the must-see indie horror events of 2026.
Financed by MUBI and produced by Plan B, this meta-horror descent follows a young director. They are tasked with resurrecting a dying slasher franchise. However, when she seeks out the original film’s reclusive star, the two women spiral into a “blood-soaked world of desire, fear, and delirium.”
The Talent
Jane Schoenbrun, the visionary mind behind I Saw the TV Glow, is returning to the screen with their most ambitious project yet. This film is a haunting exploration of fandom and identity. It stars a large ensemble cast, including Jasmin Savoy Brown and Zach Cherry.
Not only is this film arriving in August, but Schoenbrun is also releasing their first novel, Public Access Afterworld, and developing a “Black Hole” series adaptation for Netflix this year!
The First Trailer
The first trailer is a masterclass in unsettling beauty. Schoenbrun creates a world where it is impossible to distinguish the “real” camp from the “movie” camp.
The new trailer gives off a picturesque, theatrical vibe that feels surreal, leaving audiences questioning everything they see.
Mark your calendars for August 7! This is one camp trip you won’t want to miss!
