The “Flanagan family” is officially reuniting for The Exorcist, and honestly, we’ve never been more ready to be terrified!

Roll Call

Mike Flanagan is known for bringing his favorite ride-or-die actors along for every spooky journey, and his upcoming take on The Exorcist is basically a massive family reunion. According to Deadline, the gang is all here!

Get ready to see these familiar faces back on screen! Rahul Kohli (Life of Chuck), Hamish Linklater (Midnight Mass), and the legendary Carla Gugino (Gerald’s Game) join Kate Siegel (Haunting of Hill House) and Samantha Sloyan (Midnight Mass). Carl Lumbly, Robert Longstreet, Gil Bellows, Matt Biedel, John Gallagher Jr., and Benjamin Pajak are also set to appear.

They’re joining an already stacked lineup that includes Scarlett Johansson (The Avengers) and Jacobi Jupe (playing her son). Plus, we’ve got Diane Lane, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Sasha Calle, John Leguizamo, Laurence Fishburne, and the list goes on. Talk about impressive!

This Isn’t Your Usual Sequel

Forget everything you know about the recent reboots. Flanagan isn’t rebooting or remaking the 1974 classic, and he’s not doing a sequel to Believer (thank God). Instead, he’s crafting a brand-new story within the universe.

Flanagan himself said he wants to do something the franchise has never done before—focusing on pure terror rather than just playing the “nostalgia” hits.

He even admitted, “I saw an opportunity to make the scariest movie I’ve ever made. No one’s more intimidated than I am.”

If the guy who gave us The Haunting of Hill House is intimidated, we should probably start buying extra nightlights and crosses now.

To top it all off, Flanagan’s Red Room Pictures is producing the film alongside the horror heavyweights at Blumhouse and Morgan Creek.

Get Ready

We’ve got a year to wait; it hits theaters on March 12, 2027. But we know that coming from Flanagan and featuring such an impressive cast, it will be worth the wait.

More to Come

More good news: The Exorcist is just one of several projects the master of horror has coming up. Flanagan’s also got the upcoming Stephen King adaptations of “Carrie” and The Mist. He’s also behind the upcoming Clayface movie. He’s a busy man, and we are totally here for everything he puts out.
