Following The Conjuring: Last Rites, director Michael Chaves is trading haunted houses for haunted highlands. His next project? A Netflix survival creature feature titled YETI.
Because let’s be honest: if you’re trapped in the Alps, an avalanche is usually the “main event.” In this movie, it’s just the opening act.
The Snow Hits the Fan
When a massive avalanche unearths something primeval from the glacial ice, a father (Chris Pine) and his daughter (Iona Bell) find themselves at the bottom of the food chain. With zero hope of rescue and a merciless predator that literally blends into the scenery, “staying frosty” takes on a much more literal, life-or-death meaning.
An A-List Party
Chaves has assembled a powerhouse cast to face off against the legendary cryptid. It stars Chris Pine (Trading Dungeons & Dragons), Iona Bell: Fresh off The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Ray Winstone (Damsel) and Sofia Boutella (The Mummy) round out the cast.
Behind the Scenes
The script comes from the delightfully twisted minds of Peter Gaffney (Aaahh!!! Real Monsters) and Sean Tretta (12 Monkeys). While the project was originally at Sony Pictures, it migrated to Netflix last spring and has officially kicked off production in Budapest, Hungary.
The Vibe? Think The Grey meets Predator, but with 100% more fur and 1,000% more Chris Pine trying not to become a “Yeti-Snack.”
As soon as the release date is announced, we’ll let you know. In the meantime, you can find Chaves’ The Conjuring: Last Rites streaming on HBO and Prime Video.
