Forget the freshman fifteen—these guys are just trying to survive the next fifteen minutes. The official trailer for Pizza Movie just dropped, and it’s a grease-stained, neon-soaked reminder that “a simple quest for carbs” is the most dangerous trope in cinema history.
The drug-fueled comedy made its world premiere at SXSW, but you won’t have to wait long to lose your mind from the comfort of your couch: it starts streaming this April!
One Slice, Two Roommates, Zero Grip on Reality
The premise is a classic “Night Before” scenario on steroids (or, more accurately, experimental hallucinogens). We follow a terminally shy student (Sean Giambrone) and his aggressively reckless roommate (Gaten Matarazzo), who just wanted a pepperoni pie.
Instead, they ingest a mind-bending substance that turns a quick trip to the pizzeria into a gauntlet of absurd encounters and life-altering revelations. It’s the kind of night where you either find the meaning of life or accidentally join a cult. Or both.
The Cast
The lineup is a chaotic fever dream of talent. “Stranger Things” star Gaten Matarazzo, Sean Giambrone, and Lulu Wilson lead. The MVP: Daniel Radcliffe stars as “The Butterfly.” Yes, you read that correctly. Harry Potter is now a winged insect of your nightmares/dreams.
The Masterminds Behind the Munchies
The film is written and directed by Nick Kocher and Brian McElhaney—the legendary BriTANicK duo and “Saturday Night Live” alums. They’re bringing their brand of high-octane comedy to the big screen. It’s produced by the American High team (Jeremy Garelick & Will Phelps), who practically own the “messy coming-of-age” genre.
Grab a pizza, get comfy on the couch, and watch this wild ride, Pizza Movie, when it hits Hulu on April 3, 2026.
