If you’ve ever joked that your favorite true-crime podcaster sounds like they’re being watched, AMC’s ALLBLK Network is about to turn that punchline into a full-blown nightmare. Mark your calendars for April 2, because the stylish noir-thriller Long Time Listener is dropping, and it’s proof that sometimes, having a “dedicated fanbase” is the worst thing that can happen to you.

The film comes to the screen via a multi-picture deal with GreenApple Entertainment, a powerhouse known for championing multicultural casts and fierce female leads. But the real headline here is the woman steering the ship.

A Noir Debut for a Fan Favorite

Danielle Nicolet (The Flash, Central Intelligence) isn’t just starring in this one—she’s taking the director’s chair for the very first time. Nicolet plays Elle, a woman who has mastered the art of the “slow-burn” mystery for her listeners, only to find herself trapped in a plot she can’t edit out.

Nicolet brings a polished, high-tension energy to the screen, proving she’s just as dangerous behind the lens as she is in front of it. Joining her is a killer ensemble: Meagan Holder (Monarch, Pitch) and Lyriq Bent (She’s Gotta Have It, Acrimony). Cleo Berry and Lisha Wheeler are rounding out the core cast. Keep your eyes peeled for Torrei Hart (Atlanta Exes).

When Your Subject Becomes Your Stalker

In the world of true crime, fame is a double-edged sword. Elle is a podcaster at the top of her game, but when a mysterious “long-time listener” decides to reach out and touch someone, the storyteller becomes the target.

As Elle is pulled into a web of secrets and long-buried truths, the line between “reporter” and “victim” completely dissolves. The film poses the ultimate terrifying question for the digital age: Who is actually in control of the narrative?

Why It’s on Our Radar

Produced by Joe Narode (Shamed), Long Time Listener leans heavily into the noir-esque aesthetic—think shadows, psychological unspooling, and that “pulse-pounding” dread that starts in the opening scene and doesn’t let up until the credits roll. It’s a character-driven suspense piece that feels incredibly timely in our current obsession with “citizen detectives” and podcast culture.
