It’s time to put on your “f***ing sexy shoes” again! The cult classic that TikTok and a new generation of feminists resurrected from the grave, Jennifer’s Body 2, is officially getting a second life.
For years, we’ve been surviving on crumbs of hope. Hope is becoming a reality. The latest update is from the Storytelling 360 panel this past weekend. Which confirms it: Diablo Cody is actively writing the script for Jennifer’s Body 2 right now.
The Original
The original film sees a newly possessed high-school cheerleader (Megan Fox) turn into a succubus who specializes in killing her male classmates. Her best friend (Amanda Seyfried) must find a way to stop her reign of terror.
The Demon Queen’s Return
A marketing campaign famously cannibalized the original 2009 film. Which didn’t understand its own brilliance, the sequel looks to right those wrongs. And it is bringing back the original “holy trinity”.
Writer Diablo Cody (who recently gave us the neon-soaked Lisa Frankenstein) told fans she “is not done” with this universe. She’s currently writing a story that director Karyn Kusama describes as “fun and crazy” and true to the bones of the original.
Amanda Seyfried has been the unofficial hype-woman for the project, telling Variety and TikTok followers, “We’re making another one.” Seyfried has made one thing very clear: she isn’t doing it without Megan Fox. Luckily, sources confirm Fox is “on board” to reprise her role as the succubus-next-door, Jennifer Check, according to Deadline.
What’s Next?
The first film ended with a possessed Needy (Seyfried) taking flight to hunt down the band Low Shoulder. While plot details for the sequel are being kept in a locked box, rumors suggest we’ll see an evolution of Needy’s powers and a potential supernatural reunion that proves even death can’t break a toxic best-friendship.
