The Deadites are back, and this time, they’re bringing the heat!
After Sam Raimi’s original trilogy seemingly went to sleep in 1993, the Evil Dead franchise spent two decades in the cellar before Fede Alvarez (2013) and Lee Cronin (2023) proved that you can’t keep a good demon down. Now, the book is opening again—twice.
Here is the lowdown on the next blood-soaked chapters of the iconic franchise.
The Release Date: Summer of Blood
Mark your calendars for July 24, 2026. New Line and Warner Bros. are aiming to top the $147 million global haul of Evil Dead Rise. If the pattern holds, expect plenty of gore to go with your popcorn.
The Director: Sébastien Vaniček
The keys to the Delta 88 have been handed to French filmmaker Sébastien Vaniček. If you saw 2024’s Infested (the spider movie that made everyone on Shudder delete their Uber Eats app), you know Vaniček doesn’t do “subtle.” Vaniček, who co-wrote the script with Florent Bernard, has one goal:
“I told the studio that I wanted to make a nasty film, a film that hurts, from which you come away tested.”
The Cast: New Victims, Same Problems
The plot is being kept under a bloody shroud; however, we know who will be screaming. Souheila Yacoub (Dune: Part Two), Hunter Doohan (Wednesday), and Luciane Buchanan (The Night Agent) star. Tandi Wright (Pearl) and George Pullar (It Only Takes a Night) round out the cast.
Is Bruce Campbell Involved?
Yes—but don’t expect him to pick up the chainsaw. While he’s an Executive Producer, Bruce has officially entered his “I’m too old for this” era of management. Campbell recently announced a cancer diagnosis that would make it hard for him to star in films like this.
He told Forbes that he’s happy to step back and let the new kids handle the 20-page script notes. He had a lot ot say about the project during the interview.
Campbell said, “We had a meeting a couple of years ago and the French director [Sébastien Vanicek] of Evil Dead Burn was there to experience his first script development meeting. He turned in a 10-page treatment to say, “Here’s my rough idea. Here’s what I’m thinking, A to Z’ and I think he got 20 pages of notes back.
“That’s when I said to myself. ‘You guys got this. I think you guys got this.’ I got tired of arguing points with someone who’s 26 years old about story and structure, and all that sort of stuff, and what matters and what doesn’t. So, I just found out it’s way better to just step back.
“I’m partners with the guys. Nothing else has changed. I just told them, ‘Guys. I’m actually doing my own thing now, and it takes a lot of time and attention. If I can get fewer emails for approvals not clogging my timeline, that’s good for me at this point’.”
Evil Dead Wrath
Wait, there’s Another One? Yes! For the first time, two Evil Dead films are in development simultaneously. And we are totally here for it! Unlike Burn, very little is known about the second movie so far, but here’s what we do know.
The second film, titled Evil Dead Wrath. It is being written and directed by Francis Galluppi (The Last Stop in Yuma County). While we know less about Evil Dead Wrath at this point, we do know that Zach Gilford (Midnight Mass) is starring alongside Jessica McNamee (Mortal Kombat) and Charlotte Hope (The Nun).
While a trailer hasn’t dropped yet for either Evil Dead Burn or Evil Dead Wrath, we’d be willing to bet they will be unveiled sooner rather than later. And when they do, we’ll let you know.
