The infected are fast, but this streaming release is faster. After stalking theaters in January and hitting premium video-on-demand in February, Nia DaCosta’s 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple is officially making its subscription streaming debut on Netflix on Tuesday.

When the Survivors are Worse Than the Zombies

This marks the fourth installment in the legendary franchise spawned by Danny Boyle and Alex Garland’s 2002 masterpiece, 28 Days Later. But if you are expecting the same old “run away from the fast rage-virus monsters” formula, director Nia DaCosta is ready to flip that world on its head. The R-rated nightmare features a killer cast navigating a world where humanity has officially left the chat.

In a continuation of the epic story, Dr. Kelson (Ralph Fiennes) makes a discovery that could change the world as they know it—and Spike’s (Alfie Williams) encounter with Jimmy Crystal (Jack O’Connell) becomes a nightmare he can’t escape. In the world of The Bone Temple, the infected are no longer the only threat to survival—the inhumanity of the survivors can be stranger and more terrifying.

Why You Should Care

While the previous films proved that a drop of blood can ruin your whole day, The Bone Temple shifts the focus to the terrifying evolution of human cruelty in the post-apocalypse. With a cast anchored by acting royalty like Fiennes and the consistently phenomenal O’Connell, this is a must-watch for horror fans and prestige cinema lovers alike.
