Looking for a quiet getaway with zero Wi-Fi, terrible cell reception, and ancient, bloodthirsty curses? You are in luck! Apple TV+ has finally unveiled the teaser trailer for “Widow’s Bay,” a genre-bending new series that perfectly blends genuine horror with dark, character-driven comedy.
A Soft Mayor vs. Ancient Evil
The story takes us to a quaint, isolated island 40 miles off the New England coast. Mayor Tom Loftis (Emmy-winner Matthew Rhys) is desperate to revive his struggling, isolated community and earn the respect of his citizens. However, the locals think he is soft and cowardly. He is soft and cowardly.
Determined to build a better future for his teenage son, Loftis sets out to turn the creepy island into a bustling tourist destination. Miraculously, his plan works, and the tourists start pouring in. Unfortunately, the superstitious locals were right all along. The island is cursed, and after decades of calm, the ancient, terrifying legends are starting to come true.
An Elite Genre Cast and Crew
Matthew Rhys (Who has been killing it on “The Beast in Me“) leads a fantastic ensemble cast that is a dream for character-actor enthusiasts. Kate O’Flynn, Stephen Root, Kingston Rumi Southwick, Kevin Carroll, Dale Dickey, K Callan, and Jeff Hiller also star.
On the directing front, Hiro Murai is directing five episodes of the season. If that isn’t enough to get your horror senses tingling, modern indie horror legend Ti West (X, Pearl) is also stepping behind the camera for the series, alongside Sam Donovan and Andrew DeYoung.
Premiering Soon
Don’t worry, “Widow’s Bay” isn’t one of those series you have to wait a year to watch; it’s coming soon, very soon. The series will make its global debut on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, with the first two episodes, followed by new episodes every Wednesday through June 17, 2026, on Apple TV, with a special two-episode release on Wednesday, May 27.
