From time to time, we are lucky enough to receive boxes of goodies from various studios and brands. Today, we are diving into a box of treasures from Heretic Parfum—a clean fragrance company famously known for creating unique, botanical scents with a beautifully dark, gothic flair.
But before we even talk about the human experience, I have to tell you about the feline review.
The Ultimate Feline Endorsement
As I set the box on the table, my cat, Star (yes, named after the iconic character from The Lost Boys), immediately claimed it. Before I could even get the items out, Star jumped on top of the box. For the next twenty minutes, she aggressively rubbed her face all over it and hissed at me whenever I tried to take it away. She has never done that before. The box had a faint, intoxicating aroma, and needless to say, my cat now smells spectacular.
The Presentation
The packaging itself was a masterclass in gothic minimalism. The sleek black box was secured with a matching black band. Upon opening it, I was greeted by black tissue paper secured with a wax seal. Beneath that, the products were nestled safely in a bed of matching black crinkled paper. The attention to detail and presentation were genuinely stunning.
”TheBride” Solid Perfume
Inspired by the new film The Bride!, this solid perfume comes in a heavy metal container filled to the brim with black wax. Just a single, small swipe on my wrist was all it took. It absorbed rapidly and left a rich, noticeable scent trail without being overbearing. The notes were obvious: Jasmine, violet, and cedarwood.
It is rich but not heavy. The florals are wonderfully mature rather than cloyingly sweet, striking a perfect, sexy balance. Best of all? Their products are not mass-produced. You won’t smell like everyone else in the room.
Midnight Toker
Housed in a large, matte black bottle with striking red lettering, this body wash is pure luxury. This is not your watered-down, generic drugstore shower gel. It is incredibly thick, rich, and smooth—the scent: warming tobacco mingled with the spicy nostalgia of clove cigarettes and sweet vanilla.
I put Midnight Toker to the test. The act of lathering up was a full experience, one I plan on repeating. Stepping out of the shower, my skin felt amazing, and I couldn’t stop smelling my own arms. I know that might sound weird, but it smells so good. I couldn’t get enough. It’s like being wrapped in a heavy cashmere blanket, soft and warm. The amazing scent lingered for quite a while, longer than any body wash I’ve ever used before. Needless to say, I was very pleased.
To make things even cooler, Heretic takes their aesthetic so seriously that this batch was hand-poured during an actual eclipse.
