The team at CREATORVC—the masterminds behind the definitive, award-nominated In Search of Darkness series—has officially set its sights on the decade of bell-bottoms, grit, and the birth of the modern blockbuster.

After clocking over 25 hours of deep dives into the ’80s and ’90s, they are finally tackling the “Golden Era.” We’re talking about the decade that gave us The Exorcist, Halloween, Jaws, Alien, Suspiria, and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. But before they hit the edit suite, they want you to help steer the ship.

CREATORVC is Listening: The Fan Survey

Known for their “fan-first” philosophy, the producers are inviting horror enthusiasts to weigh in on the documentary’s format, exclusive physical perks, and collectible merch.

The Mission: Gather insights and questions from the community with a survey to ensure every “Monster Kid” feels heard.

The Deadline: You have until April 30, 2026, to make your voice count.

The Reward: You get to help shape a collaborative project that celebrates the most revolutionary decade in genre history.

A New Vision for Collectors

Executive Producer Robin Block is promising a major evolution for the physical release. Forget the standard plastic case; they are moving toward a high-prestige Blu-ray release paired with an 80-page companion book. It’s designed to be a premium, tangible piece of horror history for your shelf.

From the Director’s Chair

Writer/Director David Weiner is returning to his roots for this one.

“I have so many formative memories… fueled by the broadcast premieres of The Exorcist and Salem’s Lot that my parents somehow allowed me to watch,” Weiner says. “What were they thinking? I can’t wait to share my nostalgia combined with a fresh re-contextualization of this amazing time.”
