Product Review: Rotten Gummy Worms

I’m a big fan of gummy worms… well… sour gummy worms to be exact. I once bought an eight-pound bag of neon-sour-gummy worms and almost ate the whole thing in one sitting! That may have been OK when I was 16, but I’m almost 40… that’s not good. Unbeknownst to me (till now) a mad scientist, Dr. Rotten created a better gastronomical experience, these are Rotten Gummy Worms! I want to thank Team Rotten for sending over some worms for me to try!

First of all, I love the packaging. The bags the gummy worms come in are made from wood cellulose and biomaterials which will break down in compost facilities. I’m a sucker for art, and I love the art style Rotten has gone with! The Ed Roth art style brought back a wave of nostalgia growing up in the 90s when his style was being replicated everywhere.

Now onto the worms! I was given two kinds to try, Original, and Sour. The texture of the worms is chewy, not like gummy chewy, but more like the chewiness of old-school fruit snacks. the flavors are (Mischievous) Mango, (Barfin’) Blue Rasberry, (Slobberin’) Strawberry, and (Weirdo) Watermelon which is my favorite! The flavors are strong but not overpowering as they linger on your tastebuds for a while. The Sour is just like the original with the same flavors but as the name implies, they’re sour, which will satisfy sour gummy worm connoisseurs like myself. What makes these worms awesome is that they’re made with 60% less sugar, which shockingly I could not tell as the flavors make up for the lack of sweetness. for those wondering, yes, they’re gluten-free.

With less sugar, environmentally conscious packaging, awesome artwork, and entertaining marketing on the same level as Liquid Death, Rotten Gummy Worms tastes good, satisfies your inner freak, and will make you want to come back for more. I’m hoping that someday we’ll see these in stores but for now, you can get them on their official website.
