In the future year 8000 (unless you are reading this in the future, then it’s “Present Day” I guess… ) mankind has nearly gone extinct, but Santa (Duane Bruce) remains.
Joining him in the apocalypse is his cyborg wife Martha (Tara Henry) and together they battle Christmas hating mutant mother fuckers… that is until the evil Dr. Shackleton absconds with her sending Santa down vengeance’s road!
With his two .45’s and robot reindeer ol’ Claus brings hell to every two-bit monster (or robot) that gets in the way of his mission… and not even the Easter Bunny is safe!
Coming from director Michael Neel and co-writer Greg Ansin, Infinite Santa 8000 is a completely off-the-wall animated gore-fest that manages to be a hit of that Xmas magic (Santa just wants to bring the old spirit back), but with a ton of death, bullets, and rockin’ metal music!
Adding to the surreal vibe is the feature’s visual style… a heady Hodge-podge of deranged designs that bring to mind the experimental animation made popular by MTV’s ground-breaking Liquid Television (though South Park influence is in there as well).
As you can imagine, Infinite Santa 8000 is a completely chaotic affair, but the narrative doesn’t fly quite as swiftly as you’d think with all of the madness present as the film runs a bit long (and gets repetitious at times) and would have really cooked if shorn of 20 minutes or so.
If you’re craving more killin’ and Christmas cheer, Synapse has included some special features to cram in your stocking sideways on this 4K release including a commentary track featuring co-creators Neel and Ansin discussing the production and creative process behind the flick, the original web series that started it all (also with optional commentary for Neel and Ansin), and interviews with Neel and Ansin, artists Dawn Scaltreto, Nick Flanagan, & Jeff O’Brien, and voice actors Bruce & Henry, and sound post production technician Eric Welsh.
Also included are a segment on the film’s score, two music videos, and a collection of trailers for the picture.
Though it does overstay it’s welcome a bit, Infinite Santa 8000 is crude, gross, and just the thing for anyone sick to absolute shit of holiday films!
