Jack Black and Paul Rudd have teamed up for a new project, a new Anaconda movie. They recently took to social media to share the official release date. In the video, they revealed that the giant snake movie will slither into theaters just in time for Christmas 2025.
The duo promises a “big f-snake,” much like the 1997 creature feature. Reportedly, the movie is a new take on the franchise that will lean as much toward comedy as horror.
The cast has already begun to build. Suicide Squad actress Daniela Melchoir (pictured) joins Rudd and Black. They will star alongside newly announced cast members Thandiwe Newton (“Westworld”), Ione Skye (Zodiac), Selton Mello (The Clown), and Steve Zahn (“Silo”), THR reports.
Tom Gormican, known for the award-winning film Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, will be in the director’s chair. Brad Fuller and Andrew Form are producing under the Fully Formed banner.
The original action-packed film starred Jon Voight, Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, and Owen Wilson. Directed by Luis Llosa, it follows a film crew taken hostage by an insane hunter, who forces them on his quest to capture the world’s largest and deadliest snake.
The 1997 Anaconda was followed by 2004’s Anaconda: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid. Then came the TV movies Anaconda: Offspring (2008) and Anaconda: Trail of Blood in 2009. Watch the original movie trailer below and stream Anaconda now on Apple TV, Max, and Prime Video.
