In the deepest reaches of the Amazon basin, humanity’s modern hubris is about to collide with a terrifying force of ancient myth in Beware Boiúna. Now, Lionsgate has officially unleashed a pulse-pounding new trailer for the creature feature that promises a brutal, bloody descent into the green hell of the rainforest. What begins as a routine humanitarian mission quickly devolves into an absolute nightmare. A team of medical volunteers accidentally rouses an apex predator that has slumbered beneath the riverbed for centuries.
Folklore Meets Pure Survival Horror
Beware Boiúna centers on a dedicated group of doctors and aid workers venturing deep into an isolated stretch of the jungle to deliver emergency medical relief to remote communities. However, the untamed Amazon offers zero sympathy for good intentions. Their expedition inadvertently disturbs the resting place of Boiúna, a legendary and colossal serpent rooted deeply in Brazilian river folklore. However, suddenly, the group is cut off from communications and stranded on treacherous waters. They find themselves hunted relentlessly from both the dense canopy and the murky depths. The survivors must navigate a lethal landscape where nature holds absolute power. In this deadly game, Boiúna alone decides who lives, who dies, and who gets dragged into the dark.
Horror Heavyweights Build a Masterclass in Tension
Behind the camera, Beware Boiúna boasts a powerhouse creative team—one designed to exploit every primal fear of the dark and the unknown. Director Mike P. Nelson, known for his gritty work on Wrong Turn and V/H/S/85, brings a sharp, suspense-driven foundation to the project. The screenplay is by Alan McElroy (Wrong Turn), drawing from a story co-crafted alongside Tony Giglio (Doom: Annihilation). With genre veterans Jeremy Bolt of the Resident Evil franchise and Robert Kulzer producing, the film practically guarantees a heavy-hitting blend of practical tension, intricate creature mechanics, and relentless pacing.
A Star-Studded Cast Faces the Ultimate Apex Predator
Leading the harrowing fight for survival is an impressive trio of genre favorites. Jessica Rothe, breakout star of Happy Death Day, stars alongside Logan Marshall-Green (Upgrade, Prometheus) and Kiana Madeira (Fear Street Trilogy).
Armed with a terrifying new trailer and a killer ensemble, Beware Boiúna slithers its way exclusively into theaters on October 2, courtesy of Lionsgate. And it’s already proving to be the giant snake movie we didn’t know we needed, but are excited to see.
