Hammer Film Productions, the legendary studio that defined classic gothic horror, is back to unleash a fresh wave of cinematic dread upon audiences. Presenting a chilling new entry in survival horror, Hammer announces Ithaqua.

The haunting thriller is set to make its World Premiere at FrightFest London on Saturday, August 29, 2026. The iconic studio continues its long-standing legacy of bringing deeply atmospheric, monster-driven folklore to the forefront of modern genre cinema.

A Brutal Winter Unleashes an Ancient Wilderness Evil

Set against the unforgiving backdrop of the Canadian wilderness during the final collapse of the fur trade, Ithaqua plunges viewers into a nightmare of isolation and psychological collapse. A remote Indigenous settlement suddenly falls silent. The panicked inhabitants of Fort William hire Cole Franklin, an American mercenary haunted by his own dark past. His mission is to trek into the frozen wasteland and investigate. However, what Cole uncovers is a scene of unimaginable slaughter. Soon, he comes to a sickening realization that an ancient, unnatural force still stalks the snowbound forests.

As horror spreads back to the fort, the invisible presence takes a suffocating grip on the entire community. Cabin fever, starvation, and paranoia rapidly erode order, turning neighbor against neighbor in a violent spiral toward total madness. Soon, reason gives way to primordial survival instincts. Cole is forced to draw upon his military background to lead survivors against an entity that defies human comprehension.

A Star-Studded Cast Anchors a Twelve-Year Filmmaking Journey

Directed by Casey Walker (The Void, In a Violent Nature), Ithaqua represents an extraordinary twelve-year labor of love whose behind-the-scenes endurance rivals the survival tale on screen.

The exceptional ensemble cast is anchored by Luke Hemsworth (Westworld) alongside Kevin Durand (Ready or Not 2: Here I Come). They are joined by Craig Lauzon (Trickster), Leenah Robinson (1923), and Michael Pitt (Ghost in the Shell).

Walker’s In a Violent Nature

In a Violent Nature is an innovative 2024 ambient slasher film that boldly flips the classic horror formula by grounding its narrative entirely in the perspective of the killer. The story follows Johnny, a resurrected, mute killer. He sets out on a relentless, bloody rampage through the wilderness to reclaim a stolen golden locket from a group of unsuspecting teenagers.

The film, a surprise massive hit with genre fans,  trades typical jump scares for a slow-burn sense of dread punctuated by startlingly gruesome practical effects. By stripping away traditional hero-centric storytelling and focusing on the methodical, cold reality of a slasher’s march, Nash delivers a unique, art-house homage to vintage creature and monster features. Here’s the good news: Johnny’s reign of terror isn’t over yet. A sequel is already in the works. Watch the original now on Hulu and Prime Video. Or own it now on Blu-ray.

Blending historical dread, visceral practical thrills, and psychological horror, Ithaqua stands as a triumphant testament to independent horror filmmaking. Get your FrightFest tickets now.
