Game Review: ‘Psalm 5:9-13’

Well, this was a short one, so the review is…well…short. This is Psalm 5:9-13, possibly the creepiest game I’ve reviewed in months! There’s really no backstory to Psalm 5:9-13; you literally wake up in the dark and explore different rooms to get answers. The controls are extremely limited, as this is a walking sim. You use one button to zoom in the camera and another to interact when prompted; other than that, that’s it for controls. The sound design of the game is well done; the ambiance is creepy and makes you paranoid as you play, as some sounds seem to be designed to distract you in order to build up to a scare.         The graphics are great but hidden behind a VHS filter, unfortunately. I know people like that look, but sometimes it can be a tad much; in this case, it both works for and against the game. Gameplay-wise, the game is quite simple.

Spoiler Free Reviews: Valley View Motel and Once Upon a Time in a Horror Movie (Screamfest 2026)

Valley View Motel Official synopsis After a 1977 diamond heist goes sideways, two small-time crooks take refuge at a remote Pennsylvania motel, where a pair of bizarre sibling owners, a ruthless hitman and a night full of bad decisions turn their getaway into a desperate fight to survive the night and make it to their rendezvous before it’s too late.  Review Cowriters/codirectors/stars Kevin Ignatius and Nick Psinakis serve up neo noir thrills and slaughter aplenty with Valley View Motel. Set in the 1970s and boasting an aesthetic that wonderfully fits crime cinema of that era without overdoing things, the film features Ignatius as Cliff, the more reluctant half of a diamond thieves duo with the more hotheaded and desperate Reg (Soulo Smith), and Psinakis as Hal, math teacher by day and hitman by night who is hot on the trail after the thieves abscond with the diamond they were meant to hand over to their employer. YouTube Filmmakers Break the Horror Box-Office Record with Help from Jason Blum

Australian filmmaking brothers Lucas and Curtis Nicotra, better known to their millions of followers as Sticks, released a viral video documenting their audacious quest: to make a movie on a micro-budget of under $1. With the help of horror mastermind Jason Blum. Their ultimate ambition: to surpass the legendary budget-to-box-office return ratio of Blumhouse’s seminal blockbuster, Paranormal Activity. Shattering a Legendary Horror Record on a Dollar Budget The stunt began when the Nicotra brothers revisited the legendary success story of Paranormal Activity. It cost roughly $15,000 to produce and grossed over $193 million globally. Wondering whether they could shatter that historic return-on-investment ratio, Lucas and Curtis set out in late 2024 to shoot a short film for $1. How? By relying entirely on a volunteer crew, borrowed camera gear, and donated locations. The script itself serves as a meta-tribute to Jason Blum. It recounts how the producer originally fought to turn Paranormal Activity into a global phenomenon. After recruiting actor Jake

Spoiler-Free Review: Who’s Watching

Official synopsis Eccentric musician and aspiring filmmaker Caleb becomes obsessed with his new coworker, Krista, secretly documenting every aspect of her life in an effort to make her the subject of his latest film. As Caleb’s fixation intensifies, the lines between observer and participant begin to blur, pulling him deeper into a dangerous spiral of surveillance, manipulation and obsession. As the cameras keep rolling, the question becomes increasingly unsettling: who is really watching who?  Review Director Tim Kasher delivers a taut chiller with Who’s Watching. A disturbing character study of a stalker filming his target of interest transitions into jaw-dropping, unexpected territory that works satisfyingly well. Zachary Ray Sherman gives a fine, eerie performance as Caleb, a metal musician who gives off instant creep vibes that only escalate when he becomes fixated with new workplace employee Krista (Gracie Gilliam). His obsession is clear to everyone at work, and even friends of his band take notice. Krista was initially kind enough

Spoiler-Free Reviews: Still Ohio and Get That Dick (GenreBlast 2026)

Still Ohio Official synopsis In a misguided attempt to save her relationship, Ana (Fernanda Lopez) transfers from Boston College to Tulane to be with her boyfriend, Doug. Doug arranges for Ana to carpool with three of his rambunctious friends, Henry (Michael Zapesotsky), Julia (Sofia Angelopoulos), and Johnny (Jake Melamed). However, along the way, Ana discovers Doug does not know these strangers nearly as well as she was led to believe.  Review I’m rather a hard sell on genre films involving time loops, but writer/director Kaylin Allshouse’s Still Ohio is a well crafted exception to my usual stance. The characters and circumstances are nicely fleshed out, the direction is strong, and the performances from the four leads are all impressive.  Without giving too much away, the road trip that the four protagonists find themselves on involves a gas station that at first seems eerily similar to the first one where they stopped. As incidents proceed, that location and the other people
