Sam Neill, a familiar face from the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World franchise, is about to encounter a different breed of colossal creatures. He’s officially joining the MonsterVerse! Deadline reports that Neill has signed on for the upcoming sequel to Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.
The title of this next MonsterVerse installment remains a mystery. However, the film, directed by Grant Sputore (I Am Mother), is scheduled to hit theaters on March 26, 2027.
The cast continues to expand with intriguing additions. Alycia Debnam-Carey (“Fear the Walking Dead”) will star alongside Neill. Kaitlyn Dever (No One Will Save You), Jack O’Connell (Eden Lake), and Delroy Lindo (Da 5 Bloods) co-star. Matthew Modine (“Stranger Things”) has also joined the ensemble. Dan Stevens will reprise his role as Trapper, whom audiences met in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.
This upcoming sequel marks the sixth film in the MonsterVerse saga. The franchise’s rich lore also extends to television, including Apple TV+’s acclaimed series “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters,” further enriching this world of giant creatures and human drama.
The iconic Titans, Godzilla and Kong, will grace the screen again. This time, they will face a cataclysmic threat that could spell the end of the world as they know it. New human characters will join them in this battle for survival. Dave Callaham (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) played a key role in establishing the MonsterVerse with a story credit on 2014’s Godzilla, and is penning the screenplay for this highly anticipated sequel.
We’ll keep you posted as more news arrives. In the meantime, you can relive the action of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire by streaming it on MAX or watching it through MAX on Prime Video.
