Bleecker Street has unveiled the official trailer for A Talent for Murder, an atmospheric psychological thriller starring Oscar winner Helen Mirren as legendary crime novelist Patricia Highsmith.
The film is directed by Anton Corbijn (The American) from a screenplay by Joanna Murray-Smith. A Talent for Murder will make its world debut at the Toronto International Film Festival before launching exclusively in theaters this October.
One Final Ripley Chapter
The plot kicks off when an ambitious young literary agent travels from New York to Switzerland. He’s on a delicate mission: persuade a reclusive Patricia Highsmith to write one final book in her iconic Tom Ripley series.
Joining Mirren in the high-stakes battle of wits are Alden Ehrenreich (Weapons) and Olivia Cooke (House of the Dragon).
The film explores a tense confrontation that mirrors the author’s icy psychological sophistication. Which novels gave rise to cinematic masterpieces like Strangers on a Train and The Talented Mr. Ripley.
Honoring a Master of Crime Fiction
The film marks a high-profile reunion with production outfit LD Entertainment and Mirren. Armed with a powerhouse cast, Corbijn’s stylish direction, and a cerebral script, A Talent for Murder is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated suspense entries of the festival circuit.
Following its debut at TIFF, A Talent for Murder hits theaters on October 23, 2026.
