Get ready for a thriller that pulls back the curtain on the world of addiction recovery, revealing a sinister underbelly. Award-winning filmmaker and actor Harley Wallen (Ash And Bone) is bringing us Final Recovery, and the official poster and trailer have just dropped, hinting at a wild ride starring some seriously iconic faces.
The cast is stacked with talent, including the legendary Charlene Tilton (Dallas). She’s joined by Jasper Cole (Fall), Richard Tyson (Black Hawk Down), and Michael Emery (“Blue Bloods”). Cherish Lee (American History X), Damien Chinappi (Eternal Code), and Kaiti Wallen (Beneath Us All) round out the cast.
Final Recovery centers on Sage, a seemingly reputable recovery facility in Southeast Michigan. It’s run by the seemingly benevolent Louise “Nanny Lou” Stamey (Charlene Tilton). On the surface, Nanny Lou appears to be a caring and dedicated figure. However, two patients, Rodney (Jasper Cole) and Dustin (Damien Chinappi), begin to uncover a dark and disturbing truth about her operation. Nanny Lou’s primary focus isn’t the well-being of her patients, but rather the bottom line. As they dig deeper, they expose a sinister reality lurking beneath the facility’s comforting facade.
Jasper Cole couldn’t contain his excitement about the project, stating, “Working on final recovery is a career highlight for me getting to work with Charlene Tilton and Richard Tyson has been an incredible experience. Finally getting this to the screen after 16 years has made me so incredibly happy and I’m grateful to everyone.” That kind of passion definitely suggests a project close to the hearts of those involved.
Adding a unique and personal touch to the film, Cherish Lee, daughter of the iconic Charlene Tilton, not only appears on screen alongside her mother for the very first time but also contributed original music to the movie.
Final Recovery is directed by Harley Wallen, who is passionate about the story. It is based on a script by Jerry Lee Davis and Nick Theurer.
Wallen shared his thoughts on the film, saying, “We tackled very heavy subjects of addiction and mental health but in a way that felt unique and special and it felt really organic and highly collaborative and ended up with a pretty wild ride.” That blend of serious themes and a “wild ride” definitely sounds intriguing.
So, if you’re looking for a thriller that delves into the dark side of addiction recovery, exposing potential dangers hidden in plain sight, keep an eye out for Final Recovery. It’s scheduled to drop on May 2nd on both Tubi and Amazon, courtesy of Buffalo 8.
