Director Zack Snyder’s The Last Photograph is set to make its world premiere at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival. When? Sunday, September 13, at the John Bassett Theatre, Variety reports.
The showcase highlights the festival’s prestigious lineup as TIFF returns to Downtown Toronto from September 10 through September 20.
A Gripping Tale of Vengeance and Jungle Survival
The film is a departure from the massive CGI-driven landscapes of Snyder’s recent blockbuster work. The Last Photograph aims to deliver a visceral drama-thriller rooted in suspense and personal retribution.
The narrative centers on Ethan Black. He is a former DEA operative who embarks on a high-stakes mission deep into the South American wilderness. His diplomat brother and sister-in-law have been brutally murdered. Now, he must find their abducted children. Ethan aligns himself with a troubled war photographer who serves as the sole witness to the tragic event. But as the duo traverses the hostile jungle, the expedition forces Ethan to confront his own haunting past. Soon, the line between harrowing reality and psychological trauma begins to blur.
The Cast and Crew
To bring this tense story to life, Snyder directed the feature and co-wrote the screenplay alongside his longtime collaborator Kurt Johnstad.
The dramatic thriller features an international ensemble, led by Stuart Martin (Rebel Moon, Jamestown), in the lead role. Fra Fee (Hawkeye, Rebel Moon), Jackie Kay, Costanza Andrade, Carolina Henao, Marlon Moreno, Sergio Herrera, and Gustavo Angarita Jr. round out the cast.
