Seven long years after its initial reveal sent shockwaves through the cult cinema community, eccentric auteur Tommy Wiseau is finally bringing his creature feature home to streaming.
The mastermind behind The Room took to YouTube. He confirmed that his creature feature Big Shark will officially make its streaming debut on Tubi this Friday, September 4.
Following an extended, multi-year theatrical roadshow that kicked off in 2023, fans can finally experience Wiseau’s unique brand of cinematic chaos from the comfort of their own couches.
Firefighters Facing the Deep
Shot on location in Louisiana, Big Shark centers on a trio of brave New Orleans firefighters, George, Patrick, and Tim. They find themselves as the Crescent City’s last line of defense against a gigantic, man-eating predator patrolling flooded streets.
Wiseau pulls quadruple duty on the project. He serves as writer, director, producer, and star. He stars alongside co-stars Isaiah LaBorde and Mark Valeriano. Earning a PG-13 rating for bloody creature violence and strong language, the film promises all the unhinged enthusiasm, bizarre dialogue choices, and unexpected creative decisions. Everything that made Wiseau an iconic figure among midnight movie lovers.
Childhood Storybooks and the Ultimate Double Feature
In true Wiseau fashion, the release comes with a few peculiar extras. For fans looking for a slightly more family-friendly take on the aquatic disaster, Wiseau also authored an official Big Shark children’s book, fully illustrated by artist Matt Hebb. You can get your copy now.
Best of all, Big Shark will not be swimming solo on Tubi. Wiseau’s legendary 2003 cult classic The Room is also joining the platform’s library, setting up the ultimate free streaming double feature for viewers who appreciate unfiltered, unpredictable indie filmmaking.
