Unearthed Films is bringing director Doug Roos’ 2023 Japanese monster movie Bakemono to US home video with its first-ever wide-release Blu-ray edition this September.

Featuring 100% practical special effects, creature design, and gore, the film offers a blood-soaked trip into body horror and classic monster cinema.

An Apartment Full of Victims and a Ghastly Resident

Written and directed by Doug Roos, Bakemono unfolds inside a rundown, dirt-cheap Tokyo apartment building. Unsuspecting guests, led by Takashi Irie, Yukina Takase, Yurika Natsume, Miki Nomura, and Laila Chiba, arrive at different times. However, they are completely unaware of the monstrous entity lurking within the walls. As each tenant unknowingly enters the lair. Their living space transforms into an inescapable slaughterhouse.

Pre-Orders Live for Physical Media Collectors

While rejecting CGI in favor of physical creature suits, slime, and practical splatter, Bakemono stands as a loving throwback to vintage Japanese monster flicks. So, pre-order it now ahead of the film’s official September 22 Blu-ray launch.
