Heads up, horror fans, we’ve got a movie you aren’t going to want to miss! Joseph Kahn, the director behind Detention, is making his return to the genre with a wild, fresh horror comedy, Ick, and Fathom Entertainment is bringing it to theaters this summer!
What’s it About?
Here’s the scoop: For almost two decades, a viscous vine-like growth known as ‘The Ick’ has crept into every nook and cranny of a small town. However, Eastbrook remains blasé about its existence. The exceptions are former high school football star-turned-hapless science teacher Hank (Routh) and his student Grace (Weissman). The two are thrown together when Grace’s mom, Staci (Suvari), reveals a secret and a mutual suspicion that the Ick is about to unleash some monstrous mayhem.”
A Killer Soundtrack
The film is an insane, wild ride driven by a punk spirit. Ick is a fun and hilariously grotesque homage to throwback horror flicks, as well as an ode to Millennial nostalgia manifested in the soundtrack by All American Rejects, Paramore, and Blink-182.
An Amazing Cast
The film stars Brandon Routh (Superman Returns, Scott Pilgrim), Malina Weissman (Lemony Snicket’s Series of Unfortunate Events), and Mena Suvari (American Beauty, American Pie).
The talented cast also includes Harrison Cone, Debra Wilson, Taia Sophia, Zeke Jones, and Jeffrey Fahey. Ick was written by Samuel Laskey (The Guardians of Justice (Will Save You!)), Joseph Kahn, and Dan Koontz (C.C. Unit). The film’s producers are Steven Schneider, Joseph Kahn, Peter Trinh, Joe Heath, David Kang, and Adi Shankar.
Coming Soon
Ray Nutt, CEO of Fathom Entertainment, is thrilled to bring the film to the big screen: “Fathom is thrilled to bring the award-winning creature feature and horror comedy, ICK, to the big screen. With the talented Joseph Kahn at the helm, a great cast, and an incredible rock soundtrack, the highly anticipated ICK, is primed to have wide appeal to many fanbases and be a popular addition to the summer slate.”
You’ll be able to catch Ick in select theaters for a one-week run starting Thursday, July 24th. After that, it expands to theaters nationwide from July 27th to 29th.
