The arachnophobia-inducing film Crawlers, from director Angel Gómez Hernández, is about to hit theaters. Ahead of its release, a new clip teases arachnid terror. In the clip (an IGN exclusive), Matilda Lutz makes a terrifying discovery that will leave viewers squirming. The nightmare scenario builds massive anticipation for the theatrical debut this Friday.

A Deadly Quarantine Begins

Crawlers, written by Jayson Rothwell, previously titled Arachnid, is a creature feature from Roadside Attractions and Saban Films. An infestation of venomous spiders suddenly forces a police-mandated lockdown of an apartment complex. As a result, building manager Serena and the remaining residents must battle relentless creatures that multiply by the second. Serena’s deep knowledge of the complex becomes their best hope as she confronts her worst fears.

Unapologetic R-Rated Thrills

The film earns an R rating for “violent content, bloody images, strong language, and brief sexual material.” Specifically, the released clip underscores this rating by showing a spider bursting directly out of a corpse’s eye.

High-Octane Studio Collaboration

Crawlers marks Badlands’ ambitious debut feature, a new production company formed by industry veterans. Executive producers Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, and Scott Strauss bring impressive expertise from action and horror franchises. Saban executives also describe the movie as a visceral, high-octane horror experience that gets under your skin. The team partners with Roadside Attractions for this massive nationwide release.

Combining claustrophobic spatial tension, practical creature effects, and high-stakes survival drama, Crawlers aims to be the quintessential popcorn-fright experience when it hits cinemas on October 16.
