It looks like Charlie Hunnam is staying in the spooky world of Ryan Murphy’s Monster anthology series. Even before we’ve seen him as notorious serial killer Ed Gein in Season 3, sources (Variety) say he’s already in talks to join the cast for Season 4, which will focus on the famous Lizzie Borden case.

If the deal goes through, Hunnam will play Andrew Jackson Borden, Lizzie’s father. He’ll be joined by Ella Beaty as Lizzie, Rebecca Hall as her stepmother, Abby, and Vicky Krieps as the Borden family maid, Bridget Sullivan.

Hunnam is best known for his role as Jax Teller on the hit FX series “Sons of Anarchy.” He’s also appeared in films like Pacific Rim, The Gentlemen, and Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire.

The Infamous Lizzie Borden Case

For those unfamiliar with the story, Lizzie Borden was a woman from the late 1800s. She was accused of murdering her father and stepmother with an axe in 1892. While she was ultimately acquitted. However, the sensational nature of the case captured nationwide attention and has made her a well-known figure in popular culture.

Season Three – Ed Gein

Season three of “Monster: The Ed Gein Storywill take viewers to the frozen fields of 1950s Wisconsin. A seemingly friendly, mild-mannered recluse named Ed Gein (Hunnam) lives quietly on a decaying farm. Driven by isolation, psychosis, and a disturbing obsession with his mother, Gein’s grotesque crimes went far beyond murder. He was also a grave robber. He used human remains to create macabre household items, including lampshades, bowls, and even a body suit.

Gein’s shocking legacy redefined the American nightmare, and his story became the blueprint for some of modern horror’s most iconic villains, including Norman Bates in Psycho, Leatherface in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and Buffalo Bill in The Silence of the Lambs.

Delve into the mind and life of one of America’s most infamous killers. Monster: The Ed Gein Story” premieres on Netflix on October 3, 2025.
