Blumhouse is branching out, but it’s not leaving horror behind. Forget what you know about cute animal documentaries. Blumhouse and Netflix are about to turn the natural world into a horror show with the new series, “Nightmares of Nature.”
Across two seasons, you’ll follow animal heroes as they struggle to survive the real-life terrors of the wild. “Nightmares of Nature: Cabin in the Woods” debuts this month, and Season 2, “Nightmares of Nature: Lost in the Jungle,” follows close behind, debuting this October.
Narrated by the brilliantly spooky Maya Hawke, this docu-series reimagines nature filmmaking with a horror twist. It’s a fresh take where the line between natural history and supernatural terror gets delightfully blurry. We’re talking bleeding trees, zombie snails, and vampire fish that rule the deep.
“Once you start looking at the natural world, you will find things as terrifying as anything in a horror movie,” says Alan Eyres, Head of Plimsoll USA. He’s not kidding.
This series is the result of a unique collaboration between Plimsoll USA and Blumhouse, the production company behind some of the most iconic horror films of our time. They’ve teamed up to create a truly visceral and emotional look at the animal kingdom.
So, get your popcorn ready and prepare to see nature like you’ve never seen it before. The first law of nature? Stay alive. But in this series, that’s easier said than done. Tune in for the premiere of “Nightmares of Nature: Cabin in the Woods” on Netflix on September 30, 2025. And don’t miss “Nightmare of Nature: Lost in the Jungle” when it arrives on October 28.
