A new Halloween slasher villian film is set to be unleashed this fall. And it’s a love letter to the ’90s and the golden age of video stores. The Boy from Below, directed by Tory Jones, promises to be a wild, pulse-pounding tribute to classic horror.
The story drops us into the sleepy New England town of Carpenter Falls. It’s a place that’s famous for being the hometown of B-movie scream queen Marilyn Leigh Miller. As Halloween approaches, a psycho looks to pay tribute by living out his own twisted horror movie fantasies. Caught up in the madness are local video store clerk Quinn CurLs and her friends. Their encyclopedic knowledge of the genre might just be the only thing that saves them from becoming the next victims.
The film has an impressive cast, led by Spooky Madison and Leah Voysey. The cast includes some true horror legends, including Dee Wallace (E.T., Cujo), Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp), and even Richie Ramone from The Ramones! And if that wasn’t enough, frequent John Carpenter collaborator Tommy Lee Wallace also makes an appearance.
Jones, a producer, said that it allowed him to create a personal tribute to the video store era he grew up. “I spent most of my time visiting the mom and pop video stores, being completely mesmerized by the artwork of the VHS tapes on the shelves,” he said.
The Boy from Below is a must-watch for any horror fan. Stay tuned for the release date. In the meantime, check out the trailer below.
