If you think about it, it’s absolutely mindblowing how many scenes, characters, and visual effects movies and series contain. From dragons to possessed dolls and demons to the most minor bug crawling across a floor, things would not be the same without special effects. That is the topic of my interview with Digital Domain VFX Supervisor Alex Millet, who recently worked on The Conjuring: Last Rites.

Not only did Millet discuss how things are actually made, but he also talked about several scenes from The Conjuring: Last Rites, including how the infamous Annabelle was brought to life, shots of a neighborhood, and a scene of explosive destruction in the house.

Now, you’ve probably heard of Digital Domain. They’ve worked on movies like Titanic, The Day After Tomorrow, the MCU, and so much more. Millet serves as a VFX Supervisor, leading teams creating effects and working with customers to bring their visions to life. This is a considerable job, seeing that over 150 people from Digital Domain worked on Last Rites for nearly a year.

Watch the interview below and be sure to watch The Conjuring: Last Rites, now out on Digital and VOD, to see the scenes we discuss. Follow Digital Domain on YouTube for VFX breakdowns and more.
