A major sci-fi thriller feature is hitting the market, and Hollywood heavyweights are lining up. Keanu Reeves is attached to star, and Tim Miller is set to direct the film titled Shiver. Multiple sources, including The Hollywood Reporter, indicate that Warner Bros. is in final negotiations to acquire the movie.

Shiver was penned by Ian Shorr, known for the 2008 horror film Splinter. The script is generating significant buzz. It has a concept being likened to the high-stakes, time-loop action of Edge of Tomorrow mixed with the intense, isolated survival tension of the shark thriller The Shallows.

Shiver is described as centering on a “ne’er-do-well smuggler” who, while executing a job in the perilous Caribbean Sea. He becomes the victim of a deadly double-cross. The situation rapidly escalates, leaving him surrounded by a horrifying mix of floating bodies, hostile mercenaries, and blood thirsty sharks.

The plot takes a science-fiction turn when this protagonist finds himself trapped in a “deathly time loop.” He is forced to scramble and relive the perilous events as he desperately seeks a way out. The combination of intense maritime survival, violent action, and a supernatural element makes the project a highly anticipated blend of genres.

Tim Miller launched his feature film directing career with the record-breaking Deadpool and Terminator: Dark Fate. He also serves as the creative lead on the Netflix animated anthology series “Love, Death & Robots.” His skill in blending visceral action with sharp sci-fi concepts makes him an ideal fit for Shiver.

Keanu Reeves is fresh off the production of the John Wick spinoff Ballerina, demonstrating his continued command of the action genre. The beloved star is known for iconic roles like those in The Matrix and Constantine. He is expected to bring his signature blend of intensity and vulnerability to the role of the trapped smuggler.

Producing the film are Aaron Ryder and Matthew Vaughn, known for franchises like Kick-Ass and the Kingsman series. Their involvement guarantees a high-caliber, large-scale production, cementing Shiver as one of the most exciting projects currently moving forward in Hollywood.

While you wait for more news about Shiver, head over to Apple TV, Plex, Hoopla, or HBO and watch 2008’s Splinter. The movie follows a couple and an escaped convict as they face a parasite that transforms its victims into hosts. Watch the trailer below.
