If you’re a horror fan, you’ve probably heard of David Howard Thornton. He is Art the Clown from the Terrifier franchise, but fans should prepare for a whole new brand of mayhem! Thornton is slathering on a fresh set of face paint, trading Art’s silent menace for a new speaking role as the sadistic clown Long Nail Nelly in the upcoming horror film Hollywoods. We’ve got the first look at the new evil clown, courtesy of Bloody Disgusting.

The producer of Hollywoods hyped up the meta nature of Thornton’s performance: “The film plays as a meta riff on horror and performance, opening with Thornton in this new role before spiraling into its larger story. We believe Long Nail Nelly has the makings of a cult villain, and this is the first time he’s being revealed.”

The movie itself is shaping up to be a blood-soaked satire on the dark underbelly of fame. Holkywoods is produced by Kelly May and directed by Serena Reynolds. The movie is executive produced by Jason Schnell and Tommy Savas (Reckless Content) and Don’t Panic Pictures.

The setup is a classic horror setup: a group of aspiring young actresses receives an invitation from a mysterious industry guru. This figure promises to guide them to stardom at an isolated acting retreat. However, as they settle into the remote compound, their hopes quickly twist into sheer terror, revealing that this is where dreams die —not where they come true.

David Howard Thornton himself shared his enthusiasm for the departure from his most famous role: “I had a blast playing such a demented character! Can’t wait for the fans to see it—and hear me speak for once!”

Producer Kelly May confirmed that Nelly is a completely different beast than Art the Clown, noting Thornton’s energetic performance: “David brought this wild, theatrical energy to Hollywoods. He’s part Beetlejuice, part Pennywise, part Mad Hatter—it’s something no one’s ever seen from him before.”

With its potent mix of biting industry satire and brutal terror, Hollywoods aims to serve as a twisted homage to the glamorous hopes and horrifying nightmares that define the entertainment world. The film has officially wrapped post-production, and a release date should be announced soon.
