The courtroom of the near future has no jury, no emotion, and no room for error. Paramount’s upcoming sci-fi thriller, Mercy, is set to electrify audiences and challenge everything we know about justice.

Starring Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson, however, this isn’t just a movie—it’s a high-concept, heart-pounding race against time that demands to be seen on the biggest screen imaginable, in IMAX theaters!

The Story

Mercy follows a decorated detective (Pratt). His life is upended when he’s accused of the unthinkable: the murder of his own wife. In this dystopian reality, the legal system has been “upgraded” for efficiency. Instead of a trial by jury, he must face an advanced A.I. Judge with the power to issue an immediate, lethal sentence.

However, there is a catch. He has exactly 90 minutes to present his defense and prove his innocence before the machine renders an irreversible verdict. It’s a relentless, ticking-clock scenario where every second spent searching for evidence brings him one step closer to a digital execution.

The Irony of the Architect

Adding a layer of psychological torture to the mix is the A.I. Judge itself, portrayed by Rebecca Ferguson. In a devastating twist of irony, Pratt’s character was once the loudest public champion of this digital justice system. Now, he must fight for his life against the very technology he helped sell to the world. This personal connection turns a legal battle into a visceral confrontation between a man and his own legacy.

Why “Mercy” is an IMAX Event

Director Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted) is known for his signature kinetic and stylized visual flair, and his new film, Mercy, is designed to push those boundaries. To truly feel the suffocating pressure of the 90-minute countdown and the towering presence of the A.I. Judge, IMAX is the only way to go.

Let’s talk about sound. The booming, mechanical voice of the Judge and the ticking clock will echo through the theater, making you feel like you’re standing right there in the dock with Pratt.

See more of the dystopian landscape and the intricate details of the high-tech courtroom, pulling you deeper into this terrifyingly plausible future.

A Powerhouse Creative Team

Mercy is a major cinematic event backed by some of the most respected names in Hollywood:

Joining Pratt and Ferguson is a stellar ensemble including Kali Reis (“True Detective”), Annabelle Wallis (“Peaky Blinders”), Chris Sullivan (“This Is Us”), and Kylie Rogers.

Charles Roven, the legendary producer behind The Dark Knight trilogy and the Oscar-winning Oppenheimer, produces the film. His involvement ensures a polished, massive spectacle that justifies the premium screen experience.

Witness the Future of Justice

Rated PG-13 for hard-hitting action and intense themes. Mercy is, however, more than a thriller—it’s a cautionary tale about the actual cost of outsourcing our morality to machines.

Watch it as intended. Mercy arrives in IMAX and theaters nationwide on January 23, 2026.
