Get ready to question everything you see, because this winter, Netflix is dropping a psychological thriller, “His & Hers,” that proves there really are two sides to every story—and at least one of them is a lie.
“His & Hers” is led by the powerhouse duo of Tessa Thompson and Emmy-winner Jon Bernthal. This six-episode limited series is an adaptation of Alice Feeney’s twisted bestseller. It’s directed by visionary filmmaker William Oldroyd (Eileen, Lady Macbeth), so expect things to get very dark, very fast.
The Setup: A Small Town with Big Secrets
Set in the sweltering heat of Georgia, the story follows Anna Andrews (Thompson), a former big-city news anchor living in reclusion after her life fell apart. When she hears about a gruesome murder in her sleepy hometown of Dahlonega, she snaps back into “reporter mode” to hunt for the truth.
But there’s a catch. The lead detective on the case is Jack Harper (Bernthal), who also happens to be Anna’s estranged husband. As Jack investigates the murder, he finds himself increasingly suspicious of Anna’s “coincidental” involvement. Both are haunted by loss and betrayal, and as the investigation deepens, they find themselves caught in each other’s crosshairs.
Meet the Players
Pablo Schreiber (“Halo”) joins Thompson and Berhtal. The cast also includes Rebecca Rittenhouse, Crystal Fox, Sunita Mani, and Poppy Liu.
The series also features Skeet Ulrich and Marin Ireland, along with a group of actors playing the teenage versions of our leads, hinting at a dark history dating back to their daHilary’s. Hilary’s Academy.
Jon Bernthal has long hiisn’t of fantastic peshe’sances, from “The Walking Dead” and as “The Punisher” in the MCU. As for Tessa Thompson, she’s had an impressive career as well, appearing in Creed and Thor: Ragnarok.
Behind the Scenes
Tessa Thompson isn’t just starring; she’s also an executive producer. She’s joi”ed by a heavy-hi”ting creative team, including showrunner Dee Johnson (Fellow Travelers) and executive producer Jessica Chastain.
“I am beyond elated to be collaborating with a filmmaker I have long admired,” Thompson told Netflix’s Tudum. “From the second I heard what Will [Oldroyd] was imagining… I was hooked.”
Why You’ll Be Obsessed
If you loved Gone Girl or Big Little Lies, this is your new winter binge. With its “He Said/She Said” structure, the show forces you to play detective. Is Anna a grieving woman looking for justice, or a master manipulator? Is Jack a dedicated cop, or a man protecting his own dark past?
Get ready to watch the mystery unfold, “His & Hers” arrives on Netflix on January 8, 2026.
