Forget the fruitcake and the socks—this year, Santa is delivering something a lot more mechanical and way more murderous. Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 just shattered box office records, and now it’s coming home just in time to ruin your Christmas sleep schedule. And on top of that, we have gotten our claws on two new behind-the-scenes featurettes! So, get ready for a taste of the terror to come!
The Movie: Pizza, Problems, and… Megan Fox?
The sequel picks up a year after the first nightmare. Mike (Josh Hutcherson) is just trying to live his life, but his sister Abby decides to pull a “classic younger sibling” move and sneaks out to find her animatronic “friends.” This leads to a massive expansion of the FNAF lore, taking the terror outside the pizzeria and into the real world.
The cast is basically a horror fan’s fever dream. Matthew Lillard and Josh Hutcherson are back, joined by icons like Skeet Ulrich, McKenna Grace, and Wayne Knight. Oh, and did we mention the new animatronics are voiced by Megan Fox and the legend himself, MatPat? (Theory confirmed!)
The Bonus Features (a.k.a. The Good Stuff)
Universal didn’t just dump the movie and leave; they packed the digital and physical releases with enough extras to satisfy even the most hardcore lore-hunter.
-
Mangle Mayhem: See how they actually built that multi-limbed monstrosity. Warning: it’s pure nightmare fuel.
-
High-Strung: A deep dive into the Marionette. Learn how they made their movements so uniquely creepy.
-
Sensory Overload: This is the big one. The cast and crew walk you through the sets to point out all the Easter eggs you definitely missed in the theater.
-
Employees of the Month: Behind-the-scenes interviews with the cast about how they survived the shoot without getting stuffed into a suit.
Why You Need It
Director Emma Tammi and creator Scott Cawthon really cranked up the tension for this one. It’s darker, weirder, and features way more “how-did-they-build-that” practical effects from the Jim Henson team. Whether you’re watching for the jump scares or to pause every frame looking for game references, this is the ultimate way to experience the sequel.
Starting December 23, you can buy or rent the digital version to watch from the safety of your couch. If you’re a physical media nerd (no judgment, those steelbooks look sick), you can grab the 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD on February 17, 2026.
