If you thought babysitting was just about burning frozen pizzas and getting paid to watch Netflix, Dooba Dooba is here to ruin that dream forever. Dropping this January, from Dark Sky Films. This film is being hailed as the next big “word-of-mouth” cult classic, and honestly? Reportedly, it’s weirder than you’re imagining.

Shot entirely on grainy, lo-fi in-home security cameras, this movie taps into that creepy “analog horror” vibe that’s been blowing up thanks to the creativity of director Ehrland Hollingsworth (remember this name; he’s going places).

Amna (played by Amna Vegha) is a struggling singer who takes a last-minute babysitting gig for some extra cash. The parents seem nice (if a bit… off), but there’s a catch: the “child,” Monroe, is actually 16 years old.

Monroe (Betsy Sligh) is traumatized after seeing her brother murdered in their home years ago. To prevent a full-blown panic attack, she has two rules: Smile for the Cameras. You have to say “dooba dooba” every time you move from one room to another, so Monroe knows it’s you.

What starts as an awkward evening of “Truth or Dare” and bad SoundCloud advice quickly spirals into a suffocating nightmare where the power dynamics flip, and Amna realizes she isn’t just a babysitter—she’s a prisoner.

The Plot: Insanity

Nearly a decade after her brother’s murder, 16-year-old Monroe still needs a babysitter. Amna comes to babysit Monroe and learns that not only is she being monitored by security cameras, but she also needs to say ‘dooba dooba’ whenever she moves through the house to let Monroe know it’s her. The night goes on, and Amna becomes increasingly unnerved and Monroe increasingly attached.

Why the Critics Are Losing Their Minds

This movie has been cleaning up on the festival circuit (winning Best Feature at Nightmares Film Festival and Midwest WeirdFest).

Think Paranormal Activity met Skinamarink and they had a baby that was raised on creepy PowerPoint presentations. It’s grainy, it’s glitchy, and it feels like you’re watching a snuff tape you found in a dusty attic.

Critics are obsessed with the lead duo. Amna Vegha plays the “normal person in a crazy situation” perfectly, while Betsy Sligh is reportedly “wonderfully unhinged” as the parasitic Monroe.

Coming Soon

Think you’ve got the stomach for a 77-minute panic attack? Get ready: Dooba Dooba is set to open in select theaters and land on digital on January 23, 2026, from Dark Sky Films.
