Are you a fan of horror westerns like Bone Tomahawk and The Pale Door? Then, we’ve got a movie for you, A Town Called Purgatory. It is a blend of western grit with the terrifying mythology of a Nanajo monster.
In the bruised aftermath of the American Civil War, two former enemies are forced into an uneasy alliance. The film follows Beau Riffen, a principled Yankee lawman, and Cody Parnum, a haunted ex-Confederate tracker. The two must set aside their lingering resentments to hunt down a ruthless gang of train robbers.
Their pursuit leads them deep into the wilderness and into the eerie silence of Purgatory. It is a town whose residents seem to have vanished into thin air. But the law enforcement officers soon realize they aren’t alone in the abandoned streets. They are being stalked by an ancient, shapeshifting terror from Navajo legend: the Skinwalker. As the hunter becomes the prey, the two veterans must trust one another to survive a supernatural menace that feeds on their darkest secrets and the blood of the living.
