Daniel XIII; the result of an arcane ritual involving a King Diamond album, a box of Count Chocula, and a copy of Swank magazine, is a screenwriter, director, producer, actor, artist, and reviewer of fright flicks…Who hates ya baby?

While witnessing a Geek decapitate a chicken with his mouth during a sideshow, young Luther takes a tumble and accidentally knocks out his teeth.

This of course causes him to fashion new ones out of metal which he uses for murderous mayhem before being incarcerated.

Naturally ol’ Luther (Edward Terry, The Children) is let out of prison as a reformed man… except he isn’t and before you can say “One of us! Gooble Gobble!” that toothy terror is on the murder beat once again!

After clucking around (literally… our “hero” makes chicken noises throughout) town, Luther decides to hole up in a remote farmhouse where he makes hostages out of a mother (Joan Roth) and her visiting college student daughter, Beth (Stacy Haiduk, Superboy, seaQuest DSV)… and Gooble help anyone that steps foot on that land!

If there’s one undeniable fact about Luther the Geek, it’s that it’s star was one committed mother fucker!

My man eats raw eggs, shoves living chicken’s heads into his mouth, squawks like a bird, and goes completely shit-house on any neck that falls within his metal-studded mouth! He does a shit-ton of acting with nary a line of dialog and it’s a hoot n’ a half to behold!

Equally game is Haiduk, who is sprayed with whip cream, showers, and has a sex scene within a hot second of her appearance… before being menaced for the next hour.

Writer/director Carlton Albright (who also penned the aforementioned The Children) delivers on the tension (especially in the third act), and there are some strong gore effects present… though not as many as one would expect from a flick featured in the now-defunct sister magazine to Fangoria, Gorezone, in the late ‘80s… but Albright isn’t afraid to dive into the absurd with both feet, and the final film, while featuring some grizzly imagery, has it’s tongue planted firmly in it’s cheek.

Adding to the sideshow at hand, Troma has included an omelette’s worth of special features here…

Kicking things of in regards to bonus content, we get intros to the film courtesy of both Lloyd Kaufman and Albright (followed by an audio commentary and interviews with the director).

Speaking of interviews, Albright’s son William, who played a young Luther in the picture’s opening sequence, is interviewed as well, as is Jerry Clarke (who takes on the role of the long arm of the law in the film).

Bringing up the rear we get Luther the Geek’s theatrical trailer, a collection of outtakes, and a collection of Troma trinkets that come standard with their releases.

Brief, bizarre, and oft-times bat-shit, Luther the Geek is a real terror taste-treat!
