Get ready to lose your mind—literally. Chucky franchise royalty Fiona Dourif is trading the possessed doll for a high-tech head-trip in the new indie sci-fi horror thriller Psychonaut.
Studio Dom is officially bringing the film to U.S. audiences later this year. It looks like the kind of movie that’ll have you checking your own memories for glitches.
A Dive into the Subconscious
The film follows Max (Fiona Dourif), a young woman desperate to save her dying girlfriend. With the help of a mysterious, futuristic machine (and her mother, played by Dourif), Max literally dives into her partner’s mind.
The Mission: Find the essential memory that can trigger a recovery and save her girlfriend’s life. The Catch: While Max is navigating this surreal mental landscape, she’s being hunted by a man they both thought was long dead.
The Buzz
Psychonaut recently made waves at the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival. It was praised for its visual flair and stunning gothic imagery, shot mainly in striking monochrome with splashes of red.
