Ever wondered if that weird sense of déjà vu is just a glitch in your brain? Have you ever wondered about reincarnation? Miracle Media is about to make you second-guess your own sanity with the U.S. debut of Past Life, a twisty psychological thriller hitting digital platforms this March.

Directed by Grimmfest’s own Simeon Halligan, this flick isn’t your typical “scary movie.” It’s a high-stakes descent into the human mind where the past isn’t just behind you—it’s trying to kill you.

The Cast: A Powerhouse Lineup

The talent attached to this project is seriously impressive, bringing some heavy hitters from both the indie and blockbuster worlds. It stars Aneurin Barnard (Dunkirk, Peaky Blinders), Jeremy Piven (Entourage, Mr. Selfridge), Pixie Lott (Christmas Karma), Tim McInnerny (Game of Thrones, Gladiator II), and Nicholas Farrell (The Iron Lady).t.

The Plot: Hypnosis, Hitmen, and 80s Horror

Jason (Barnard) is a war reporter who has seen too much. He’s back home trying to live a quiet life, but his PTSD is a constant shadow. To cheer him up, his wife Claira (Lott) drags him to a late-night show hosted by a famous hypnotist named Tim (Piven).

Jason is a total skeptic—until Tim snaps his fingers. Suddenly, Jason isn’t in a theater anymore; he’s seeing the world through the eyes of a brutal serial killer from the 1980s.

What starts as a party trick quickly turns into a living nightmare. The visions won’t stop, and they’re getting more detailed by the second. When Jason tries to use a second session to “erase” the memories, it only pulls him deeper. With the help of a retired journalist (Farrell), Jason begins investigating an unsolved crime from before he was born. But when a new victim turns up dead in the present day, Jason realizes that by opening the door to his “past life,” he might have let a monster into his current one.

Why You Should Watch It

Past Life takes the “past life regression” trope and turns it into a gritty, forensic investigation. It’s a sharp, enthralling mix of Inception-style reality-bending and classic 80s-inspired slasher dread. And you’ll be constantly guessing—is Jason actually remembering a past life, or is his trauma-fractured mind finally snapping?

Past Life lands in the U.S. on March 24 and hits the UK on April 6. Check out the brand-new trailer and poster to see Jeremy Piven do his best (and creepiest) “look into my eyes” routine.
