Hold onto your skin (literally), because a horror match made in heaven (or hell) is headed your way! Bryan Fuller, the aesthetic mastermind behind “Hannibal,” is officially teaming up with the master of the macabre himself, Clive Barker.
During an interview at the Saturn Awards (where Fuller’s directorial debut Dust Bunny was busy cleaning up the trophies), the Emmy nominee dropped the news that every horror fan has been manifesting since the mid-2000s: not the “Hannibal” revival we’ve been begging for, but a brand-new television collaboration.
The Dream (Nightmare) Team
Fuller described the project as a “dream come true” from his childhood, which, knowing his track record, likely involves a lot of poetic violence and impeccably tailored suits.
Is it Horror? It’s Clive Barker. Unless the two of them are making a baking competition for the Food Network, it’s going to involve cenobites, transgressive gore, or, at the very least, a lot of leather.
This news comes right on the heels of the gameplay trailer for Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival, proving that the Barker-verse is officially back and we’re here for it.
Fuller is currently writing a separate script for his next directorial effort, but this Barker collaboration is the one that has the industry buzzing. Blending Barker’s visceral, body-horror philosophy with Fuller’s lush cinematography is basically the cinematic equivalent of a five-course meal at Hannibal Lecter’s table. And boy, are we hungry for something tasty.
We will keep you posted as more details come to light. In the meantime, we’re still keeping our fingers crossed that we will see more of “Hannibal” at some point.
