Things are about to get wild on Paramount+! The streaming service has officially announced that Primate, the creature feature that turned a tropical getaway into a literal zoo, will debut on streaming in the U.S. and Canada this March.
Home Sweet Horror
The story follows Lucy (Johnny Sequoyah), a college student returning to her family’s opulent, remote home in Hawaii. The homecoming is supposed to be all beaches and reunions. However, the family’s hyper-intelligent pet chimpanzee, Ben, has other plans.
After a run-in with a rabid mongoose (nature’s ultimate party pooper), Ben goes from a T-shirt-wearing “little brother” to a 150-pound engine of destruction.
The Key Players
Johnny Sequoyah stars as Lucy, who must lead her friends in a desperate fight for survival. She’s joined by Academy Award winner Troy Kotsur (CODA). The cast also includes Jessica Alexander (The Beauty), Victoria Wyant, Gia Hunter, and Benjamin Cheng. Charlie Mann, Tienne Simon, and Miguel Torres Umba round out the cast.
Johannes Roberts, the man who made you afraid of the water with 47 Meters Down, is now here to make you afraid of the backyard.
The film features fantastic cinematography by Director of Photography Stephen Murphy. Murphy took us inside the production during our interview. He even explained how some scenes and FX were created, including the scene featured on the new poster.
Grab some snacks (bananas if you’ve got ’em) and get ready for Primate, which lands on Paramount+ on Wednesday, March 25.
