If you’ve ever looked at Eric André and thought, “This is the man I want standing between me and the death of the world.” If the answer is yes, your oddly specific wish has been granted. Deadline reports that the Emmy-winning chaos agent will star in Synergy Systems, a genre-bending “punk thriller” that sounds exactly as unhinged as its leading man.
Neo Meets a Mid-Life Crisis
Eric André stars as Bemis, a data analyst whose primary skill is being “terminally indecisive.” However, his life takes a sharp turn into the absurd. He discovers his corporate overlords at Synergy Systems are behind a literal doomsday plot.
The catch? Bemis is spectacularly unqualified and spineless, with approximately zero survival skills. He’s forced to become humanity’s last line of defense. Despite being the guy most likely to accidentally delete the world’s “save file” while trying to fix a spreadsheet.
The Creative Madmen
The movie marks the feature directorial debut of Toby Harvard, the writer behind the gloriously weird The Greasy Strangler and Come to Daddy.
“[André is] the most fearless and unique voice in American comedy,” Harvard told Deadline. “I’m thrilled to watch him embody a character who feels like the bastard lovechild of Chauncey Gardner and Neo.”
The film is being produced by Iconoclast (Spring Breakers) and Talon Entertainment. This ensures that the “punk action” aesthetic will be cranked to eleven.
More André on the Horizon
If you can’t wait for the apocalypse, you can catch André in a much more physical role later this year. He’s set to play Don Sauvage, the eccentric tournament commentator, in the upcoming Street Fighter movie, hitting theaters on October 16, 2026.</span>
