Matt Damon headlines the cast of Director Zhang Yimou’s (Hero, House of Flying Daggers) latest film, The Great Wall, which marks the first English-language production for Yimou. It is also the largest film to ever be shot entirely in China. Yimou is known for his films’ amazing cinematography and stunning effects, which is clear to see in The Great Wall’s trailer.
The film depicts China’s construction of The Great Wall and the battle to protect their people from the Mongols, but they discover that something far more dangerous is out there. Matt Damon’s character and an elite force will fight both men and monsters in this period piece.
The cast for the epic film includes William Defoe, Pedro Pascal, Andy Lau, Tian Jing, Eddie Peng, Numan Acar, Kenny Lin, Hanyu Zhang, Lu Han, Cheaney Chen and Xuan Huang. The screenplay was penned by Tony GilroyCarlo Bernard, and Doug Miro, based on the story by Max Brooks and Thomas Tull. The Great Wall lands in theaters on February 17, 2017 from Legendary.
