Even if we wanted to hop into the action faster, we couldn’t,” says Matt Duffer. “Our kids are aging. We can only write and produce the show so fast. They’re going to be almost a year older by the time we start shooting season three. It provides certain challenges. You can’t start right after season two ended. It forces you to do a time jump.” Then he added, “It’s a long way of saying that yeah, we’re going to do a time jump.”
It makes sense. The kids that star in the series are growing up quickly. Plus, since the Upside Down was beaten back it would take time for it to take root again.
As the season 2 finale drew to a close we say the giant Mind Flayer lurking over the school’s gym where the winter ball was taking place in the Upside Down, the parelell world, waiting to enter their world. Luckily, Eleven was able to close the rift that linked the two worlds in the finale. The question is, how long will it stay closed?
