Previously there was an announcement trailer for the upcoming official co-op zombie survival video game World War Z based on the movie by the same name. Recently there have been major updates announced in regards to the game itself by Sabre Interactive (the game’s developer) CEO Matthew Karch who sat down with PlayStation Magazine.
As mentioned in a previous article and now confirmed, players will be going to locations that were in the films namely Jerusalem and the South Korean airbase; players will also be going to New York City and Moscow with the promise that more locations around the globe will be added eventually. Players will be able to construct traps as well as barriers to alter the path of the running hoard.
Now some new details! The game will be in third person view (most like over the shoulder view). The environment can be manipulated in order to assist you; you can blow up cars to help take out enemies or buildings to make obstacles. Besides the hoard of zombies, players will be facing other types of enemies which were not explained further so chances are there are mutated zombies or humans players will be encountering as well.
Now that brings us to what people want to know more about, the zombies. Each time players encounter the hoard they will be facing approximately 1,000 zombie AI’s running at them! Now comes the interesting part, the zombie AI’s are going to exhibit “procedural behavior”, in short, the zombies will learn from their mistakes AKA Players will have to be ready to change their tactics spontaneously during combat as the zombies will learn how to avoid certain obstacles/traps set up by players (chances are this will happen if players use the same tactic over and over). Zombies are scary but zombies that can learn and plan are terrifying!
