Red Barrels have announced that the long-awaited third installment in their popular first-person horror game franchise “Outlast” is in the works as we speak!
The game has two main games and one DLC titled Whistleblower that follows the events of the first game. In the game’s series, players have to run and hide from psychotic individuals and behemoths while at the same time dealing with their inner demons. What sets “Outlast” apart from other horror games is the in your face terror players experience as the games take place in very dark locations and the only way you can see anything is through the viewfinder of a night vision camcorder.
Though the first two games and Whistleblower are related, the third installment titled The Outlast Trials is its own story but takes place in the same universe as the other games. The story takes place in the middle of the Cold War era where players take on the role of a test subject who must face the horrors of an experiment. The twist in this title is that players can either go solo or team up with three friends and face the trials together!
