Guillermo del Toro’s new film Nightmare Alley, rated “R” for “Strong/bloody violence, some sexual content, nudity, and language.” now has a new release date set for this December.
The all-star cast includes Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett, Toni Collette, Willem Dafoe, Rooney Mara, Ron Perlman, Richard Jenkins, Mary Steenburgen, and David Strathairn.
In the film, an adaptation of William Lindsay Gresham’s 1946 novel of the same name, “An ambitious young carny (Cooper) with a talent for manipulating people with a few well-chosen words hooks up with a female psychiatrist (Blanchett) who is even more dangerous than he is.”
This is not the first time the story has made it to the big screen, it was first adapted back in 1947 by director Edmund Goulding and starred Tyrone Power and Joan Blondell.
Nightmare Alley was written by Guillermo del Toro and Kim Morgan and will open in theaters on December 17, 2021.
