Post-Apocalyptic Thriller ‘Stronghold’ Scores An August Release

Gravitas Ventures, an Anthem Sports & Entertainment Company, has just announced the release date for the indie, post-apocalyptic thriller Stronghold, written and directed by Julia Camara. Stronghold is a dystopian tale of resilience in which a young survivalist and her mother live isolated entirely in the woods. When a distressed stranger appears, their lives and future are threatened. The film stars Bianca A. Santos (The Fosters, Legacies, Ouija, Priceless, The Duff), Jaqueline Fleming (Don’t Look Back, Red, Atone) as the familial pair in peril, and Oliver Rayón (Room for Rent, The Chosen, Doc Holliday’s Revenge) as the stranger who threatens the isolated duo. The deal was brokered by Gravitas VP of Acquisitions, Bill Guentzler, and Jeffrey Cooper, Owner of Cut Entertainment Group. Santos is managed by Liz Wagner at The Rosenzweig Group and repped by Saskia Delp-Kullock at Global Artists Agency. Movie Review: ‘Cobweb’ Is Creepy As Sh*t

I watch A LOT of horror movies; it’s one of the best parts of my gig. So you can understand that I’ve become a bit jaded, hard to impress, and even harder to scare. But once in a while, a movie will come along that, by some miracle, can get under my skin. That’s the case with director Samuel Bodin’s new horror Cobweb. In the film, “A mysterious, constant tap plagues, Eight-year-old Peter taps from inside his bedroom wall – a tapping that his parents insist is all in his imagination. As Peter’s fear intensifies, he believes his parents (Lizzy Caplan and Antony Starr) could be hiding a terrible, dangerous secret and questioning their trust. And for a child, what could be more frightening than that?” The film and the cinematography look absolutely fantastic. The movie has a rich look that plays off shadows and hidden spaces. Movie Review: No Sympathy For ‘Sympathy For The Devil’

From writer-director Luke Paradise comes Sympathy for the Devil. The film stars Nicolas Cage (Renfield) as an unhinged psychopath who kidnaps a man (Joel Kinnaman) at gunpoint, taking viewers on a wild ride during a night filled with action and insanity. While en route to the hospital where his wife is in labor, a man is taken at gunpoint by a red-headed stranger and is forced to drive him to various locations where the stranger takes out his anger by killing innocent people. The stranger is played by Nicolas Cage, who comes off like a sadistic asshole with zero f*cks to give. He’s clearly unhinged, but not in a good way. It’s just weird. Maybe I expect too much out of Cage, I mean, he’s usually an expert at playing crazy. As for Joel Kinnaman, who starred as the driver, a worried husband, and father, he did a fine job. Ahead of its world premiere at the Fantasia International Film Festival this Friday, July 28th, Shudder has released the first look and the official poster for The Sacrifice Game starring Mena Massoud (Aladdin, Evolving Vegan) and Olivia Scott Welch (Fear Street, Lucky Hank). “It’s bad enough that boarding school students Samantha and Clara can’t go home for the holidays, but things take a deadly turn when a gang of cult killers arrives on their doorstep—just in time for Christmas.” The cast also includes Gus Kenworthy (“AHS”), Chloë Levine (“The OA”), Madison Baines (1UP), Derek Johns (“The Boys”), Laurent Pitre, and Georgia Acken. ‘Babadook’ Star Joins FX’s Upcoming “Alien” TV Series

Fans of the Alien franchise are in for a treat. Not only is Fede Alvarez making a new movie, but the franchise is also getting a new TV series from FX and today we have some casting news. It has already been confirmed that Sydney Chandler (Don’t Worry Darling) will star. Deadline is now reporting that The Babadook star Essie Davis has now come on board to join Alex Lawther (The End of the F*cking World), Samuel Blenkin (“Black Mirror”), and Adarsh Gourav (The White Tiger). Deadline also reports that “Production began Wednesday, July 19, at The Studio Park [in Thailand] with crew filming scenes that don’t include SAG-affiliated actors.” This is due to the current writer and actor strike. The official title for “American Horror Story 12” has now been revealed as “American Horror Story: Delicate.” FX has now released the first teaser (of Many). Emma Roberts and Kim Kardashian (insert eye roll) will lead the cast, which also includes Cara Delevingne (“Carnival Row”) and “AHS” alum Emma Roberts. Just judging by the new teaser, it appears this season will have a baby theme, with the teaser featuring the tune of “Rock-A-Bye Baby.” It also gives us a glimpse at the series leads.
